I look at life through a frame, I like to hold on to what moves me.
Rob de Lange graduated from the d’Witte Lelie University of Applied Sciences in Amsterdam, studying drawing and crafts. But he never became a teacher. He retrained as an illustrator from 1987. This work increased his visual acuity and skills in the most diverse techniques. After the birth of his son, he made his first painting, a self-portrait in oil paint. That was when he knew he wanted to continue as a painter. In a short time, he developed into a realistic artist with excellent craftsmanship and a strong sense of colour and light. His main sources of inspiration are people and the paint itself. That material and his sense of intensity ensure a form of painting that excels in expressiveness. De Lange prefers to paint in acrylic. He chooses subjects from everyday life: people, daily scenes, a demolished building, occasionally a still life. In recent years, an urge has arisen to give free rein to his imagination within his realism. A development that also produces exciting and intriguing work. De Lange has his studio in the Zaanstreek, the Netherlands. He can be approached for portrait commissions.
