Looking, looking and looking again…nothing is what it seems
As an artist, Hillegon is primarily a draftsman. She analyses and combines in a visual language that is characterised by alienation and wonder. Hillegon Brunt graduated from the art academy in Arnhem and received a basic grant from the Mondriaan Fund. In 2011, she was selected by the CBK Rotterdam for the Groot Grafiek project and worked on a series of large-format woodcuts and experimented with the Toyobo technique. In 2016, she created the book Once upon a time… the observations of Hillegon Brunt in collaboration with graphic designer Art Collart. The book received an honourable mention in the catalogue of the jury of the Best Designed Books in 2016. In 2022, her book Door het Land was published, which was again designed by Art Collart and in which the first 30 drawings from the series The Landscapes are bundled. She is currently working on Pronkstukken; series of drawings, graphics and photos.
